Check your accounts
Read an account register, understand transaction status and reconcile an account with your bank statement.
The Accounts page
Accounts shows each account with its Balance, In categories and Ready to budget. Under the name, you see the currency and the date of the last confirmed balance. Not reconciled yet means that you have not compared the account with a statement yet.
To add an account, select Add account. See Add an account.
Close an account
Close an account that you no longer use, for example after you close it at the bank. Its transactions stay in your history and exports, and you can reopen it later.
- Bring the balance to zero, and move any of its money in categories back to Ready to budget.
- Open the account, and select Close account at the bottom of the page.
A closed account is listed under Closed accounts. It does not appear in forms or imports, and it does not count toward the currencies of the Free plan. To use it again, open it and select Reopen account.
On the Free plan, if your open accounts use more than two currencies, accounts in the extra currencies are read-only. You still see them, and they stay in your totals and exports. See More than two currencies on Free.
The account register
Select the name of an account to open it. The account page shows:
- Balance, In categories and Ready to budget for this account.
- A chart of the balance over the last 12 months, with dots on the days you reconciled. Show as table lists the balance at the end of each month.
- The register: each transaction, latest first, with its payee, category, amount and the Balance after it.
- Buttons to Reconcile, Import file and Add transaction. A new account shows Opening balance instead of Reconcile.

Transaction status
- Uncleared
- The transaction is not on a bank statement yet. For example, a card payment that the bank has not booked.
- Cleared
- The bank shows the transaction.
- Reconciled
- The transaction is part of a balance that you confirmed. If you change its amount later, the app adds an adjustment.
To change Uncleared to Cleared, press the status in the register. Press it again to make it Uncleared. In an account's register this changes only that account's side of a transfer or conversion; under Transactions it changes every side. A Reconciled status stays as it is. An import also clears the transactions that it matches.
Reconcile an account
Reconcile each account about once a month. Then you know that the budget agrees with your bank. You need a recent statement, or the balance and date from your banking app.
- Open the account, and select Reconcile.
- In Statement date, enter the date of the statement.
- In Statement balance, type the balance that the statement shows.
- Under Uncleared transactions, tick each one that is on the statement.
- Select Check difference.
- If the balances match, select Finish.

Cleared transactions up to the statement date are counted automatically. A transaction after the statement date is not counted.
If the balances do not match
- Compare the register with the statement. Look for a transaction that is missing, that you entered twice, or that has a wrong amount.
- Correct the transactions, and select Check difference again.
- If you cannot find the cause, select Finish and add an adjustment. The button shows the amount.
An adjustment changes the account balance and its Ready to budget by the difference. It shows in the register as Reconciliation adjustment.
When you finish, the ticked transactions and the cleared transactions up to the statement date become Reconciled. The account shows Balance confirmed with the statement date.
